Getting to Know God, An Artist's Journey

$34.95 hardcover

Getting to Know God is a montage of inspired verse, biblical quotes and art by an accomplished artist and writer from Charleston, SC.

As an artist, she portrays images that "warm the heart and stir the soul". Each painting is meant to "lift the spirit and transport the viewer into a tranquil place away from everyday cares." Likewise, her personal meditations and prayers are meant to give comfort in a changing world and to give glory to God.

In the sense that these were never written with the intention to publish them, this collection becomes a ministry of faith that the author felt compelled to share.   The paintings include low country landscapes, wildlife and florals.

Small Miracles

Lord, we have marveled at Your wonderful creations
And we have felt Your presence in our lives.
For this we are thankful.

As we seek to do Your will
And pray for Your guidance
We have seen some doors close and others opened.
We have been amazed at how our hopes and efforts
Have become fruitful when it seems the world was against us.

We know it is only by Your grace that we accomplish anything.

As we seek to know You
And see You in the little things in life,
The big things fall into place.

As we turn our lives and our efforts over to You,
Positive things happen
Which we could not have made happen on our own.

As we commit the work of our hands
And our energy to You,
Small “miracles” begin to happen.

We learn to wait.
And to be joyful as we wait.
Always hoping for the best.
Always faithful to Your words.
Always expressing love to those around us.

Faith, hope, and love are the basis of Your teaching.
When we focus on these
And delight in the simple treasures
Then You take care of everything else.

We ponder Your creations
And do little acts of love.
And You uncomplicated our lives.
You lift our burdens.

The small miracles in our lives
Are the many blessings
God has given us.

We often overlook these while searching for the big miracle.

We forget the everyday joys we take for granted.
The joys that make life worth living.
Things like loved ones, good health,
A means to earn a living, knowledge,
Things that make us laugh,
A comfortable place to live,
And free time to do whatever we want.

We will always have things in life
That can annoy us if we let them.
Like bills, rude people, and
Fears of everything from “heights” to “did I turn off the coffee pot?”

As we place our hopes in the Lord
And ask for His guidance and wisdom,
Our fears lessen.
And we can put annoying things in perspective.
They are not the priorities in our lives.
They do not control us.

Faith is our priority
And we know God will  enable us
To deal with the bothersome small stuff.
Nothing can penetrate our “armor”
If we surround ourselves with an attitude of love.
